A Romantic Coastal Connecticut Wedding- New Haven, Connecticut
As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I’m always inspired by couples who lean fully into celebrating their people, their story, and the places that mean the most to them. From the very first moment I met Amanda and Hunter during their seaside engagement session on their boat, I knew their wedding day would be joyful, heartfelt, and full of personality.
Amanda and Hunter exchanged vows during a traditional church ceremony in downtown New Haven, Connecticut, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. The ceremony was filled with emotion, quiet glances, and the kind of love that feels deeply rooted in family, something that carried through the entire day.
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at Amarante’s Sea Cliff, one of Connecticut’s most iconic waterfront wedding venues. With sweeping views of the Long Island Sound, the reception space was transformed with soft pastel pinks, coastal textures, and romantic table décor that felt both elegant and personal.
Amanda poured countless hours into designing the cocktail hour and reception details herself, and it showed. Every element felt intentional: warm, welcoming, and reflective of the coastal New England setting. Just as cocktail hour began, a giant summer thunderstorm swept through the venue. Guests were rain-soaked, windswept, and laughing their way through it all. Despite the unexpected weather, spirits stayed high, and the energy only added to the story of the day.
The reception concluded with the most meaningful desserts: cannoli, pastries, and cake from Petonito’s Pastry and Cupcake Shoppe, lovingly provided by Amanda’s mom. It was a beautiful, full-circle moment that felt deeply personal and rooted in family tradition. For the late-night bite, guests enjoyed Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, a true New Haven staple, sending everyone home happy, full, and ready to celebrate well into the night.
Amanda and Hunter’s wedding was a perfect example of what I love most about photographing New England weddings: timeless locations, meaningful traditions, and days that unfold naturally, even when the weather has other plans.
